I.D.E.A. Regulations Published by the Department of Education
On August 3, 2006, the regulations implementing the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004 were released. Regulations are the "cookbook" for putting the law into effect.
The regulations are nearly 2000 pages long. However, preliminary reports are that very little has changed from the proposed regulations issued last year. This means that they will closely follow the law. We will be analyzing the regulations and reporting the impact of the new regulations on families and children.
The regulations are being reformatted and will be available in an easier-to-read version at www.wrightslaw.com.
If you wish to read the regulations in their current form, they may be found at: http://www.ed.gov/policy/speced/guid/idea/idea2004.html
