National AHCA call-in day is TODAY, May 2! #SaveMedicaid and #SavetheACA
Urgent Action Needed:
A new amendment to the American Health Care Act (AHCA) is winning support and the House of Representatives may vote as soon as Wednesday, May 3. The AHCA repeals major provisions of the Affordable Care Act, and many of its critical protections. It would cause 24 million people to lose health care coverage and cut $880 billion out of the Medicaid program. The Medicaid changes are particularly devastating to people with disabilities.
The new amendment makes a bad bill worse and would allow states to seek waivers that would allow them to charge higher premiums to people with pre-existing conditions. It would also allow states to seek waivers from the Affordable Care Act’s requirement to provide essential health benefits, including crucial services for people with disabilities
Please Participate in Today’s National Call-In Day!
Call your representatives and ask them to vote against the amended AHCA.
How to call:
If you know who your Representative is, call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 to be connected.
Tell them that you are a constituent and that you/your son/daughter relies on (or will rely on) Medicaid for health insurance and for services to live and work in the community through the Medicaid waiver. PLEASE VOTE NO ON THE AMENDED ACHA BILL.
Caps and block grants would decimate the program on which people with disabilities and seniors rely for critical healthcare and community services.
Do NOT allow states to opt out of requiring health plans to cover basic health care and keep it affordable for people with pre-existing conditions, including people with disabilities.
