Melanie Sanchez is from New Mexico. She has three children and her daughter, who is now a teenager, was born with an amazing extra chromosome. They’ve been walking this journey together since her birth. Melanie has been in the field of Education for over 22 years. She received her Bachelors & Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education, and has specialities as an educator include sensory regulation, differentiated instruction & reading intervention.
Melanie has shared her and her daughter’s journey to help build awareness with the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Gamut Management, Hearts of Joy International, a local news station & events within her local community.
As an educator, Melanie has strived to build a culture of awareness & acceptance among children. Tim Harris has graciously accepted her invitation on a few occasions to inspire students as a guest speaker. She has also served as a volunteer with A Night to Shine -Tim Tebow Foundation.
She notes that NDSC has been instrumental in her life as a parent with a child with Down syndrome and is excited, as well as, grateful to serve on the NDSC Team to help support individuals & families.
In her free time, Melanie enjoys making memories with her children, watching Christmas movies, baking & reading.
