About the National Down Syndrome Congress

Amplifying the voice of our community

Influencing and shaping public policy at all levels – local, state and federal – is of the highest priority for the National Down Syndrome Congress. We maintain an effective presence in Washington DC though our Governmental Affairs Director, Susan Goodman. With the guidance of the NDSC Governmental Affairs committee, our Director works with both the legislative and executive branches to define and guide new statutes which affect our families while helping to assure they are administered properly.

The NDSC works in close collaboration with other Down syndrome organizations and broad disabilities rights advocates to amplify the voice of our community as we advocate for people with Down syndrome. We publish the NDSC Newsline with regular frequency to keep our members informed of current issues. When our individual voices need to be heard in Congress or the White House, we broadcast legislative alerts defining precisely what action you can take to secure the laws and rules of importance to you and your family.
